Cuckoo Trattoria and Pizzeria: Experience the Best of Italian Cuisine in Coombs

This place is so nice! The food is excellent. Had the platter of Ceasar salad and the wild mushroom pizza! Too die for. Highly recommend!

We dined at this amazing restaurant and tried their cuckoo and capricciosa pizza and scallops. They were so unique, delicious and with high quality ingredients. Our servers were friendly, helpful and nice. Loved the ambiance and location.

This restaurant was absolutely fantastic! We had the soup and sandwich combo, and everything was incredibly fresh. There were plenty of accommodations for dietary needs, including a great selection of gluten-free options. The atmosphere was spotless, and the decor was superb. Highly recommend!

Our favorite Italian spot! We drive from Victoria just to have lunch or dinner here and make a whole fun day of it at the beach with the kids. The food is AMAZING and the setting makes you feel like you are away on a special vacation :) Definitely gives European vibes!

We stopped in to get takeout and the service was amazing. They were so helpful and told us that they would have the food ready once we were finished with our hike. The lasagna was amazing! We also ordered chocolate cake and a peanut butter square and they were delicious. This is a must eat at place if you are in the area.

After a long search for authentic Italian pizza, this place is truly a gem! I’ve been looking for this exact kind of pizza for 2.5 years — and finally found it here. The pizza was just perfect: not greasy, no thick doughy crust, and not overloaded with tomato paste. Just the way I love it! Everything was on a high level — from the food to the atmosphere. I also really appreciated the cleanliness and the beautiful white tablecloths. I genuinely enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended!

A Truly Special Dining Experience at Cuckoo in Coombs We stumbled upon Cuckoo Restaurant by pure chance while driving around, unsure if we’d even be able to get in. From the outside, it looked like a full house with a long waitlist, probably only accessible with a prior reservation. But we decided to try our luck anyway. As we walked in, we were warmly greeted by an Italian host who explained that there was a private event in one section of the restaurant, but the other side was open for walk-ins—with one condition: we had to share a table with four other people. The communal table seated eight, and while not everyone might be comfortable dining with strangers, we thought, why not? It turned out to be the best decision! We met two wonderful couples who were already friends, and by the end of the night, we had made new friends ourselves. The atmosphere was lively, warm, and welcoming, thanks in large part to the incredible staff. The Italian host returned to our table and, to our surprise, announced that dessert was on the house—because, as he put it, “That’s what Italians do. They share tables with strangers and become friends!” It was such a lovely and unexpected gesture that made the experience even more special. Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal! The handmade pasta, paired with fresh, flavorful sauces, was simply the best Italian meal I’ve had in a long time. And as a big fan of Italian cuisine, that’s saying something! Cuckoo is now a must-visit for me whenever I’m in the area. Highly recommended for anyone looking for not just a fantastic meal but also a truly memorable experience.

On our way to Ucluelet we stopped by Coombs for the first time; we ate some really good pasta at the Cuckoo Trattoria & Pizzeria. Customer service was great and we didn’t wait long to get a table. This restaurant has an uplifting atmosphere for all to enjoy. The food came within 30 minutes and tasted amazing! If you love salmon I’d recommend the Fettuccine Salmone. Tasted great and I liked that the cream sauce wasn’t too heavy. The Linguine Creamy Pesto was also a great choice; the pesto sauce made the pasta delicious! Overall I’d say we’d come back for sure on our next trip to Vancouver Island!
